The Town of Ajax is recognizing International Day of the Girl with a week-long Elevate Girls campaign running October 5–11, celebrating the achievements of girls and women in sport while raising awareness of barriers to participation, according to the town.
Throughout the week, videos featuring perspectives on females in sport will be released on the town's social media channels, with the final video on October 11 featuring local Olympic athlete Sadé McCreath.
From October 5–11, residents can enter online for a chance to win one of three Elevate Girls branded sports kits; all entrants are welcome. On October 10, activations at the McLean, Audley and Ajax community centres will feature information tables, balloon and sticker giveaways, and contest ballots. Recreation staff will wear purple on October 10 and 11 to raise awareness for the campaign.
