On October 1, 2026, at approximately 6:10 a.m., West Division officers responded to a sexual assault call at a residence near Lake Driveway West and Hawkins Crescent in Ajax, according to DRPS. Police say the adult victim had agreed to meet the suspect at his residence; while inside, the suspect allegedly forcibly prevented her from leaving and sexually assaulted her. The victim later fled, contacted police, and was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Officers attended the residence and took the male into custody without incident. Mandela Muiruri, 29, of Ajax is charged with sexual assault and forcible confinement, and he was held for a bail hearing.
DRPS says police have concerns there may be other victims. Anyone with information is asked to contact D/Cst. Ricot-Gomez of the West Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1905. The allegations have yet to be proven in court.
